Dane Stewart, MFA 17

Originally from Nova Scotia, Dane Stewart is a queer artist who now calls Montreal home. His podcast, Resurrection, explores the forgotten stories of queer people whose lives were lost to HIV/AIDS. Resurrection has reached the top 10 podcast charts in both Canada and the United States and has been featured in media around the world, including CBC, CTV, the BBC and The Guardian, which calls Resurrection “an excellent show.”

1. J.W. McConnell Building (LB)

Description

Opened in 1992, the LB Building is a cornerstone of the Sir George Williams Campus. It houses the R. Howard Webster Library, the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery, and various academic departments, making it a central hub for learning and culture.

Located in the LB Building, the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery has been a vital part of Concordia since 1966. It showcases contemporary art and is vital to the university’s research and graduate studies.

3. R. Howard Webster Library (LB)

Description

After a significant renovation and digital transformation in 2018, the Webster Library has become a state-of-the-art facility designed by students for students. It offers a range of modern resources, including a technology sandbox and a visualization studio.

Located on the ground floor of the LB Building, 4TH SPACE is a “living lab” that showcases Concordia’s research and teaching. It offers a unique, interactive experience where academic work is accessible to the public.

5. SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation (LB)

Description

Founded in 2019, SHIFT connects diverse communities, institutions and ideas to create a more just, inclusive and prosperous society. It offers a welcoming space for collaboration on societal challenges.

6. Faubourg Tower (FB)

Description

Purchased by Concordia in 1997, the Faubourg Tower houses important administrative units, including University Advancement and the Equity Office. It supports Concordia’s ambitious fundraising efforts, such as the Campaign for Concordia: Next-Gen Now.

7. Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema (FB)

Description

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema is Canada’s largest university centre for film studies. It has produced award-winning filmmakers whose work has been showcased at major festivals around the world.

Located on the sixth floor of the FB Building, District 3 is a startup incubator that supports entrepreneurs in high-tech, health care and biotech industries. It fosters innovation by providing mentorship and resources to budding businesses.

9. John Molson Building (MB)

Completed in 2009, the 15-storey John Molson Building is home to the John Molson School of Business. It emphasizes sustainable business practices and features the world’s first-ever solar wall, generating energy for the building.
