MESSAGE
FROM THE
VICE-PRESIDENT
This has been a great year filled with numerous successes in the Services Sector. We continue to push past the status quo and go beyond for members of the Concordia community, thanks to the great work and the excellent collaboration of our colleagues across the university, as well as external service providers.
Work on the new Science Hub at Loyola continues move forward since shovels broke ground in June 2018. As one of Concordia’s biggest undertakings in the last decade, the ambitious project is scheduled to be complete in Spring 2019. The new space is aiming for a LEED gold certification and will provide the Concordia community with a state-of-the-art facility designed to support ongoing research, innovation and training at the university.
Concordia continues to be recognized as a sustainability leader in higher education, celebrating 19 consecutive years having the lowest energy consumption per unit area among the six major universities in Quebec. Institutionally, we continue to push forward with our sustainability planning, involving a diverse group of members from within the Concordia community who are currently working on a formalized plan to further our commitment to sustainability.
We take pride in the numerous accomplishments that have taken place this year, from the successful educational campaign around Quebec’s pension reform and transition to a new benefits provider to an award won for the Grey nuns restoration project and a new operations system in security. Each project is a team effort and our team is proud to serve Concordia. We look forward to continuing to support the needs of the community while also contributing to the attainment of the university’s strategic priorities.
