Q-BEKH

Quebec Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub

Q-BEKH is a program of the Office of Community Engagement at Concordia University, in partnership with UQAM. We connect researchers, Black entrepreneurs, and community organizations to strengthen the Black Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem through collaborative research.

Who we are

We are a dedicated team of professionals, academics, and community leaders working in unison to drive positive change in the Black entrepreneurship landscape in Quebec. As a part of the national Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (BEKH) and a key element of the government of Canada’s Black Entrepreneurship Program, we are proud to be supporting this critical initiative.

What's new

Rewatch our dynamic panel conversation exploring the vital intersection of Black entrepreneurship and research, featuring esteemed researchers, academics and community organizations delved into their groundbreaking work.

What we do

Research and insights

We collaborate closely with our Steering Committee to identify gaps in current Quebec research projects. We engage with researchers regularly, and offer necessary support, particularly in community engagement and accessible knowledge mobilization. Our findings inform policies, programs, and initiatives that support their growth.

Knowledge mobilization

We bridge the gap between research and action by disseminating valuable insights and resources to the Black business community, decision-makers, and the public. Gathered insights are then shared through organized events, programs and accessible communications materials.

Community engagement

We actively engage in strengthening relationships with local community organizations, connecting with other regional hubs, and nurturing relationships with organizations.

Our impact

Through our efforts, we aim to catalyze a transformation in the landscape of Black entrepreneurship in Quebec. We measure our success by:

  • the growth of Black-owned businesses
  • increased access to resources
  • a more inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial environment
