Why study Assurance, Fraud Prevention and Investigative Services?

Having an effective fraud prevention, detection and deterrence strategy in place is a vital organization safeguard.

The Minor in Assurance, Fraud Prevention and Investigative Services underlines the principles of auditing and the role of management in relation to occupational fraud and information systems. Students learn to recognize and analyze the red flags of fraud, design and assess internal controls and explain how allegations of fraud should be resolved. Ethical aspects are also addressed.

Topics include the misappropriation of assets, corruption, financial statements fraud, the psychology of the fraudster, computer fraud, risk management, e-business, and accounting information systems (AIS) security and analysis.

A Minor in Assurance, Fraud Prevention and Investigative Services is available to John Molson School of Business undergraduate students only.

March 1 is the deadline to apply for fall term entry. International students are encouraged to apply by February 1 to allow sufficient time for CAQ and study permit application processing.

Winter term

November 1 is the deadline to apply for winter term entry. International students are encouraged to apply by September 1 to allow sufficient time for CAQ and study permit application processing.
