Research interests include sixteenth- and seventeenth-century literature and culture; Renaissance humanism and rhetoric; early modern literature and science; literature and medicine; contemporary theatre; writing and logical argument; social media; academic and administrative challenges facing contemporary universities. 

Publications include three books, Marlowe's Soldiers, Coming to Class, and Fantasies of Troy, and journal articles in Renaissance Quarterly, Sixteenth Century Journal, University of Toronto Quarterly, Theatre Journal, Modern Drama and elsewhere. 

Fellowships at the Folger Library and the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies at the University of Toronto.
