Biography
Alex Lefter has a PhD in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Before joining the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, he worked in several academic institutions in the United States, Europe, and Canada. His research interests include the work-nonwork interface, emotional labour/workplace interactions, unemployment dynamics and unemployment insurance, and the gender pay gap. His research is currently funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, and the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. Over the years, he has taught a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including compensation and benefits, labour relations and collective bargaining, recruitment and selection, human resources management, organizational behaviour, labour market analysis, managerial economics, personnel economics, as well as management research methods, business statistics, and applied econometrics.
