Biography

Dr. Chiraz Ben Ali is an Associate Professor of Accounting who joined JMSB in 2018. She received her PhD in Business administration and a M.Sc. in Accounting from the University Paris Dauphine, France. Prior to joining JMSB, Dr. Ben Ali was Associate Professor at IPAG Business School (Paris) where she managed the Master in Accounting and Management control. She also worked as a management controller at Societe Generale bank. Dr. Ben Ali taught a range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Intermediate Financial Accounting, IFRS, consolidation and, Financial Reporting for Responsible Decision Making.
Her research focus on questions related to corporate governance and covers two main areas: auditing and corporate governance mechanisms. In particular, she is interested in examining the relationship between auditing and shareholders' interests with a particular emphasis on: the determinant of audit fees; the role of multiple large shareholders (MLS) in protecting minority expropriation; and the influence of ‘shareholder’ versus ‘stakeholder’ corporate governance models.
