Biography

Dr. Jassim Hassan joined the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering as an Assistant Professor (Limited Term Appointment) in 2009. Then in 2012 he applied for a new position (Extended Term Appointment) as a Lecturer at the same department. In 2017, he promoted to a Senior Lecturer. He is a full time faculty member. He earned his PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary, Canada, specializing in Structural Engineering. In addition, Dr. Hassan holds a Master Degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Loughborough, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Baghdad, Iraq. Prior to teaching at Concordia University, Dr. Hassan taught courses in Structural Engineering abroad of Canada and at the University of Calgary in Canada respectively. Also, Dr. Hassan has worked in industry on many infrastructure projects in the Middle East. Dr. Hassan is registered professional engineer in the province of Alberta (APEGA).
