Biography
Tina Carlisi is an artist who also collaborates on curatorial projects and events. She holds a BFA and a Graduate Certificate in Design, an MA in Art Education and is currently a PhD student in the Individualized Program in Fine Arts at Concordia University. Carlisi’s work and research explores the intersection of artistic, political and social practice with text and image often emerging as central components. Her practice-based Master’s thesis École libre: Visualising a Social Pedagogic Movement (2013) explored artistic practices that emerged during the 2012 Québec student movement by art and design students, investigating their relationship to experimental art/design pedagogy. Her doctoral research continues to examine how artistic production can participate in democratic publicness of socio-political issues and the role of both print media and pedagogy within this process. Carlisi’s doctoral research-creation is funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
