Yaffa Elling has worked for many years with street involved youth and recreation planning and intervention for youth at risk. She has also worked as a guidance counselor in high school, an employment counselor, in front line crisis intervention, in child welfare services, and instructor at the CEGEP, trade school for nursing assistance in mental health, and university levels
