Biography

As the director of Studio subTela one of the Hexagram research-creation areas, Barbara Layne works at the intersection of textile arts and technology, creating handwoven fabrics with embedded electronic components. Cloth surfaces are transformed through dynamic LED displays and wireless capabilities to create interactive garments and wall panels. Her work is shown internationally through galleries, museums and techno-fashion events.
