Biography

Mitch Mitchell is an interdisciplinary print artist currently exploring identities of familial histories through the relationships of labour, industry, trade and waste.  His various installation and sculptural creations utilize engineered paper, performance of printing, the multiple graphic object and residue of the industrious democratic tool utilized to transfer image. Mitchell has exhibited nationally and internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions and has also been selected to represent Canada in the Printmaking Biennial in Douru, Portugal (2010 and 2012) and the Contemporary Canadian Print Exhibition at the Chonqing National Gallery in China. He has won multiple national and international awards for his work and is collected in museum and private collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Serrelves Contemporary Museum of Art in Portugal and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
