Biography

Professor Barbieri has general research interests in the area of strategic marketing planning in a complex and changing marketing macroenvironment. His particular research and consultation interests focus primarily on the marketing mindset, market orientation, marketing competencies assessment, and strategy planning. His "Marketing Paradigm for the Twenty-First Century" is published in the leading-selling text, "Basic Marketing: A Global Managerial Approach (Shapiro, S; Perrault, W; McCarthy, E: Irwin - 1999).

Professor Barbieri is a member of the Core Faculty in the MBA Program. He is a winner of the Faculty of Commerce and Administration's Distinguished Teaching Award (1988), the university's Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching (1998) and of the Concordia Council on Student Life Teaching Excellence Award (1999), as well as being Concordia's 1990 nominee for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education's Canadian Professor of the Year Award. Prior to joining Concordia, he worked as a sales and marketing planner for Avon. Professor Barbieri is also a former member of le Barreau du Québec.
