Master of Science in Management (MSc)

Experiential learning

The research-based nature of John Molson’s Master’s programs means that students refine their skills relevant to data collection, in-depth analysis, problem-solving and proposing recommendations, written and oral communication, and presentation. In addition, our students benefit from a number of experiential, hands-on opportunities that also prepare them for their future careers in business and allow them to build their network.

The AGRE provides a bridge between our researchers and the business community.

Annual Graduate Research Exposition

Our MSc students are invited to participate alongside John Molson PhD candidates in the Annual Graduate Research Exposition (AGRE). This flagship event for our graduate research students allows them to present their research findings to judges from academia and the local business community, as well as to the wider Concordia community and general public. Not only are financial prizes awarded to the best posters, but the AGRE provides students with a great opportunity to hone their presentation skills and receive feedback on their research, all while expanding their academic and professional network.

Internships are a great way to prepare for the job market.

Internships

Working hand in hand with our Career Management Services (CMS) team or our Institute for Co-operative Education, MSc-MSCM candidates kick-start their career by securing internship opportunities that allow them to directly apply what they learn in class, get relevant work experience, and build new networks. The work experience earned during an internship is highly regarded by employers and opens up a number of opportunities after graduation. For more details on how to secure internships, check out our CMS and Institute for Co-operative Education websites:

External organizations like MITACS can provide funding and practical experience.

Community Service Initiative

As part of a pilot project, a limited number of MSc Management students are given special permission to participate in the John Molson MBA program's Community Service Initiative. During this course, MSc and MBA students collaborate with non-profit organizations, non-governmental entities, and social enterprises to provide management solutions that have an impact on society.

Our programs are designed to provide students with both academic and professional skills.

Professional development

John Molson's research-based MSc and MSCM programs include a Professional Development module designed to complement students' academic training by providing them with technical skills that help them succeed professionally and academically. Students are required to attend a minimum of three professional development workshops, offered in collaboration with different partners at Concordia University, such as:
