Inspiring the next-generation to shape an equitable future

With a mission to inspire young people to become leaders and innovators, the Youth Engagement Office offers exciting programming for those under the age of 18 to build the confidence, critical thinking and employability skills of the next generation.

Programs

Growing and supporting existing youth outreach programs

Throughout the year, we offer fun and innovative hands-on programming for elementary and high school students.

Summer Camps for Kids and Teens

Concordia has teamed up with the YMCA to offer Science & Engineering Camps and Fine Arts Summer Camps. This collaboration combines the expertise of our Science and Fine Arts students and faculty with the longstanding camp traditions of Quebec’s YMCAs.

Gina Cody School of Engineering; GirlSET

Through engaging design challenges and hands-on activities, GirlSET empowers girls aged 14-17 to explore careers in engineering and computer science by equipping them with tools to drive innovation and affect social change.

Finding Urban Nature

In partnership with day camps, Finding Urban Nature delivers science and outdoor education programs to a diverse range of children from lower-income backgrounds. The initiative collaborates with UrbaNature, a local NGO dedicated to providing nature education to underserved communities.

Gina Cody School of Engineering; STEM Squad

STEM Squad delivers curricula tailored to various educational settings, including working with local NGOs to offer after-school programming for underserved communities. This program focuses on coding and robotics, helping young learners develop core engineering skills and confidence in their abilities.

Events

Hosting fairs, contests, immersion events and tours to give youth a taste of university life.

Fun activities, engaging workshops and numerous opportunities for youth, all year round!

About the Youth Engagement Office

We are a student-focused and justice-oriented program that centers youth agency and lived experience to amplify their voices and wisdom. Our activities are guided by the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, solidarity and participatory learning as we strive to engage youth traditionally underrepresented in post-secondary education.
