Description

Continuous intake. The committee makes decisions twice a year, in spring and fall.

Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers

Value: Travel expenses plus €2,650 EUR per month, plus family allowance and language fellowship.

Duration: 6 to 24 months (research stay).

Eligibility: Completed their PhD no longer than 4 years ago.

Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers

Value: €3,150 EUR per month. This includes a mobility lump sum and a contribution towards health and liability insurance. Various other expenses are also covered, e.g., €800 Euros/month for research costs, family allowances, child care support for single parents etc.

Duration: 6 to 18 month (research stay).

Eligibility: Researchers outside of Germany who completed their doctorates less than twelve years ago.

Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award

Value: €45,000 EUR.

Duration: 6 to 12 months (academic collaboration with specialist colleagues in Germany)

Eligibility:  Academics from abroad, regardless of their discipline or nationality, may be nominated for a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award, provided that they have received their doctoral degree within the past 18 years.

Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award

Value: €45,000 EUR.

Duration: up to 1 year (academic collaboration with specialist colleagues in Germany)

Note: A director or senior academic of a Fraunhofer Institute must take the initiative to nominate a candidate for the Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award.
