Strategic framework
Concordia University’s Strategic Framework, Nine Directions for a Next-Generation University, outlines the university’s vision to be widely recognized as one of Canada’s top comprehensive universities, with an overall goal of being a first choice for students and faculty across Canada and internationally.
The development and finalization of the Strategic Framework involved broad-based consultations with the Concordia community. This included an exercise to define our competitive advantage, as well as our external challenges and opportunities. As a result, Concordia’s strategic goals are based on the information we collected, and feedback we received regarding the future of Concordia.
Strategic directions
To reach its vision, Concordia is devoting its energies to three principle strategic directions:
- High academic quality, with particular focus on research and creative activity; teaching and learning; and academic standards
- Outstanding student experience and student engagement
- Community engagement and social responsibility
These directions will be supported by adopting best practices in administration and by communicating our successes to internal and external communities.
A key element in the successful implementation of the Strategic Framework is Concordia’s Academic Plan 2012-2016, a detailed roadmap that identifies specific actions that need to be carried out in order to achieve our vision.
Both the Strategic Framework and Academic Plan are living, working documents, which may be modified from time to time as objectives are reached, and as new challenges and opportunities emerge.
