Services and resources for those seeking information on disability and accessibility on campus.
Concordia University is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience for all staff, faculty, students, and visitors. Our commitment is realized through powerful cross-campus partnerships, and requires everyone to play a role in preventing, identifying, and removing barriers to accessibility in all aspects of university life.
Accommodations
Students
The Access Centre for Students with Disabilities (ACSD) provides academic accommodations and services to students with disabilities to promote equal access to education.
Employees
Accommodating employees with disabilities is an important part of the University’s commitment to an inclusive, supportive, and accessible workplace. Take a moment to review the procedures related to workplace accessibility for employees, or email us for questions or information.
Accessibility resources
Instructor resources
The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) advances evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning by supporting and sustaining excellence, inclusion, and access to opportunity for the entire academic community. Consider these resources on Universal Design for Learning, enabling captioning on Zoom, and creating accessible documents.
Facilities Management
Facilities manages the planning, design, development, construction, and day-to-day operations of all university buildings and facilities. Their 5-year action plan details measures to improve accessibility and inclusivity on campus.
Transportation
Users with disabilities can now access priority boarding and reserved seating on the Shuttle bus.
Web accessibility
University Communications Services is the unit that ensures concordia.ca and the Concordia app are compliant under WCAG standards, so that everyone can navigate and access information on the web regardless of disability, device or technical constraint. UCS now offers Web Accessibility Training to all web publishers.
Campus Safety and Prevention Services
Emergency procedures and evacuation for persons with reduced mobility.
Scholarships & funding
Students with disabilities registered with the ACSD are encouraged to apply for all bursaries and awards. If they self-declare, they can also benefit from those specifically designated for students with disabilities.
