Facilities Management Accessibility and Inclusivity Action Plan

Overview

The Facilities Management Accessibility and Inclusivity Action Plan aims to enhance accessible and inclusive facilities on campus. Developed from extensive community input, it prioritizes lived experiences to create a welcoming environment for all Concordia community members.

The action plan is a framework and a guide for future projects on campus. Its structured approach focuses on improving key areas such as navigation, access and essential amenities. The goal is to create a more accessible and inclusive campus environment for all.

  • Focus: Enhancing the arrival experience for all campus visitors, regardless of the mode of transportation

    • Clearly marked safe passages
    • Upgraded seating and signage
    • Increased lighting levels
    • Designated drop-off areas

  • Focus: Ensuring safe and continuous pathways for movement around campus.
  • Ongoing improvements:
    • Repair and upgrade surfaces
    • Add shelter and seating
    • Upgrade ramps, stairs and signage
    • Enhance lighting and contrast indicators
    • Ensure accessible door mechanisms

  • Focus: Making building entrances more, welcoming accessible and inclusive for all.

    • Clearly marked power-operated door controls

  • Focus: Helping individuals navigate the campus effectively and independently.
