Student safety patrol program
The Campus Safety and Prevention Services (CSPS) is committed to providing a safe campus environment at Concordia University. With this objective in mind, CSPS has established the Student Safety Patrol Program.
The Student Safety Patrol Program has the following objectives:
- Be visible on campus and promote the SafeWalk program.
- Encourage students to take an active role in the security and safety of their campus.
- Provide a “safe walk” accompaniment service to student or staff who would prefer to not walk alone during the evening.
- Assist during emergencies; first aid, fire alarms, etc.
- Provide a fulfilling volunteer opportunity for Concordia students
Program overview
The Student Safety Patrol Program is a new initiative launched in September 2024. Student Safety Patrollers are volunteer positions and there are no minimum commitments. Students can schedule shifts according to their availabilities.
As a Student Safety Patroller, you will work with CSPS, and patrol campus to promote safety and security on campus, and the SafeWalk program. No previous security training is necessary, and Student Safety Patrollers will not be asked to respond to nor intervene in incidents or conflicts.
Student Safety Patrols (SSP) will be active from September to April, between 6:00pm and 11:pm from Monday to Friday (with plans to expand on weekends).
Training
SSP volunteers will be provided training on the following subjects:
- Safety, security and SafeWalk procedures,
- emergency evacuation procedures
- First aid training.
