November 21 protest at Henry F. Hall Building

November 22, 2024
|

  • At 2 p.m. on November 21, two large groups of protesters, respectively coming from west and east of the downtown campus, joined other protesters in front of the Henry F. Hall Building.

  • About 30 minutes later, while some protesters remained outside, others pushed Campus Safety and Prevention Services (CSPS) agents to force their entry in the building.

  • Some 300 to 400 students walked through Hall lobby and floors leaving some graffiti and damaging some doors.

  • Protestors came back out and again gathered in front of the Hall building. They then walked west on de Maisonneuve, south on Guy street, east on Ste-Catherine Street and up MacKay street, and came back in front of the Hall Building.

  • They dispersed around 4 pm.

  • Police was present near campus throughout.

  • We have received reports of criminal acts, including antisemitic hate-related speech and gestures. These are unacceptable and we denounce any hate activity.

  • The university is still assessing the event and will take appropriate actions against Code violations and/or criminal activities.
