Transferring to a Fine Arts program
The Faculty of Fine Arts admits students once a year. Make your requests by March 1 for entry to the program in September of that year.
Please note: DO NOT submit multiple types of requests (ie. a double major request AND an internal transfer of program request in the same year). If you wish to be considered for different programs in the same year (ie first choice and second choice option), please contact Fine Arts Student Academic Services for guidance of how to proceed.
I am a Concordia BFA student:
- I wish to change my Major or Specialization to another Fine Arts Major or Specialization or
- I wish to add a Fine Arts Minor.
- Download and print an Internal Transfer of Program Form
- Complete and sign the form and submit it to the department offering the program you wish to take/add
- Check if the program requires a portfolio or audition. If it does, follow the department's instructions.
- If the program does not have additional admission requirements, scan the form and email it to finearts.sas@concordia.ca; approval of the transfer will be based on your Concordia grades.
I am a Concordia student in another degree program (ie. BA, BSC, BEng, BCS, BAdmin, BComm) and I wish to change my degree to a BFA degree program.
- See the instructions on how to request an undergraduate degree transfer
- Check if the program requires a portfolio or audition
- If it does, follow the department's instructions.

- Complete the Double Major Program Request form.
- Write a rationale explaining why you wish to be accepted for the double major program and explain how the two programs interrelate and/or intersect and attach it to your completed form.
Submitting the form
If you are:
- registered in a Fine Arts program or a program outside the Faculty of Fine Arts and
- requesting to add a program in the Faculty of Fine Arts
Submit the form and rationale to the Department housing the program you wish to add prior to March 1. You must fulfill any additional admission requirements (eg. portfolio or audition) stipulated by that program by their published deadline dates. After assessment of your portfolio or audition, your form will be automatically forwarded to Student Academic Services with their recommendation.
If you are:
- registered in a fine arts program and
- requesting to add a program outside of the Faculty of Fine Arts
Submit the form and rationale to that program to obtain their recommendation. Recommendations must come from either the Chair or a designated Undergraduate Advisor of that department. Once that department returns the form and rationale to you, submit it to Student Academic Services (EV 2.705).
Granting the request
You will be informed of a final decision in writing. Please note that having recommendations for approval by both programs does not automatically guarantee final approval. Final decisions also require the appropriate Faculty-level approval.
- I am not a student at Concordia or
- I am currently an independent student at Concordia and I wish to be admitted to a BFA degree
You must apply and be admitted to the University.
