Josie Fomé, BA 17, GrDip 18

Josie Fomé is a communications professional and documentary filmmaker. Her work focuses on international development, philanthropy and education. Fomé is a two-time Concordia graduate from the Department of Communication Studies and the Department of Journalism. During her time at Concordia, she was actively involved in student life, volunteering with the Dean of Students Office and helping students to navigate campus life as a resident assistant.

1. Hall Building (H)

Location

1455 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W., Montreal

Description

Opened in 1966, the Hall Building is the iconic heart of the Sir George Williams Campus. It symbolizes Concordia’s emergence from the YMCA and serves as a hub for student life, learning, and community activism.

2. Sir George Williams Affair Plaque (H)

Location

1455 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.

Description

Located on the ground floor of the Hall Building, this plaque commemorates the 1969 Sir George Williams Affair, a significant event in Canadian civil rights history where students protested against anti-Black racism.

Description

The 7th floor of the Hall Building houses the CSU and various student services that support Concordia’s diverse student body. Here, you’ll find groups like the  People’s Potato and NouLa Black Student Centre.

4. School of Irish Studies (H)

Description

Situated on the 10th floor of the Hall Building, the School of Irish Studies offers courses that explore Ireland’s history, culture, and diaspora, with a focus on the contributions of the Irish community in Canada.

5. Reggie's Pub and Hive Café (H)

2nd Floor, Hall Building, 1455 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.

Description

Located on the second floor of the Hall Building, these student-run co-operatives are popular social hubs on campus. Reggie’s Pub was renovated in 2016 and offers a modern space for events and gatherings.

6. Concordia’s ER Building (ER)

Description

Home to major learning centres, such as the Concordia Arts in Health Centre and the Centre for Research on Aging (engAGE), the ER Building embodies the university’s commitment to social inclusion and interdisciplinary research.

7. Simone de Beauvoir Institute (MU)

Description

Dedicated to the multidisciplinary teaching of women’s studies, the Simone de Beauvoir Institute is a leader in research on gender, sexuality and race. It is the oldest Women’s Studies program in Canada.

8. Guy Metro Building (GM)

Description

Acquired by Concordia in 1997, the GM Building now houses administrative offices and student services, including the Access Centre for Students with Disabilities and Concordia Health Services.

9. Concordia’s Annexes

Location

Mackay Street

Description

The Annexes on Mackay Street house several departments and organizations, including the Liberal Arts College, the Department of Religions and Cultures, and Queer Concordia, which supports the university’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

10. Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV)

Location

1515 Ste-Catherine St. W.

Description

A landmark building on Sir George Williams Campus, the EV houses the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, as well as the Faculty of Fine Arts. It is a hub of innovation and creativity.
