Position description:

The Department of Education in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, invites applications for a 12-month Limited Term Appointment in Early Childhood Field-Placements/Internships. The successful candidate will coordinate, supervise, and teach early childhood field-placements/internships and related seminar courses mandated by the Ministère de la Famille. Additional teaching responsibilities are related to social policy pertaining to young children’s rights, childcare, education, health and social welfare; administration in early childhood settings; or theories of play in early childhood settings.

Limited-term Faculty members at Concordia are full-time faculty members whose primary duties include teaching and service, with no research obligations.

Qualifications and assets

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Studies, Educational or Developmental Psychology, or a related field, as well as relevant teaching experience at the university level. A PhD in these fields is considered an asset. The candidate must have prior experience in early childhood settings as an educator, as well as experience in direct supervision of university-level students in field-placements/internships in early childhood settings. In addition, expertise is required in at least two of the following areas: (1) in-depth knowledge of administration and leadership in early-childhood or childhood contexts; (2) in-depth knowledge of social policy pertaining to young children’s rights, childcare, education, health, and social welfare; (3) in-depth knowledge of theories and nature of play in early childhood setting.
