Experiential, collaborative programs
Our department houses four programs: a three-year undergraduate program, two one-year graduate diplomas, and a two-year master's program.
Our undergrad and diploma programs blend theory and hands-on journalism practice. Through production courses in all digital journalism platforms, students are regularly covering the same stories as working journalists. In contrast, our lecture-based courses focus on journalism's social, economic, political and ideological impacts.
Our one-of-a-kind master's program looks into the future of journalism with emphasis on innovating in today’s digital news space as well as tomorrow’s. Students develop a strong foundation in academic research and critique.
We're journalists, media experts and scholars
Our full-time and part-time faculty are former or working journalists. They bring real-world experience into our classrooms reflective of the modern-day newsroom. They have a diverse range of expertise, not limited to:
- Health and science journalism
- Audio storytelling and podcasting
- Enivronmental and climate change journalism
- Indigenous journalism
- Data journalism
- Solutions journalism
- Community journalism
- Collaborative and inclusive journalism
- Journalism ethics
- Journalism and sociology

A vibrant student experience in Montreal
Our department is located in the Communication Studies and Journalism Building of Concordia University's Loyola Campus in Montreal. The city is a media center for French-speaking Canada, and one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in North America.
Our facilities in the CJ Building include high-tech digital newsroom spaces and an equipment depot to support all your journalism projects. Labs are open to program students 24/7, all year long.

Esteemed alumni
Since 1975, we have trained many of Canada's best journalists. You can't read an online publication, listen to a podcast, or watch a television newscast without coming across a Concordia journalism graduate.
