Our graduate diplomas are intensive, 11-month programs that offer hands-on multimedia journalism training reflective of real-world newsrooms. 

Graduate Diploma in Journalism

Now more than ever, we need motivated truth-seekers to dedicate themselves to the highest editorial standards of journalism. The Graduate Diploma in Journalism will bolster your skills in writing, audio, visual journalism and online reporting, providing a well-rounded, professional multimedia journalism education. The 11-month intensive program is designed for students with an undergraduate degree at minimum. 

Our internship offerings will connect you to Montreal’s strong media environment, permitting you to network with working journalists and report on stories related to politics, culture, science, sports, the arts and more. Be part of the growing number of alumni who have excelled in journalism upon graduating.

Your completed application will include:

  1. Application form and fee
  2. Three Letters of Reference and assessment form (2 must be from academic sources) 
  3. Statement of purpose (approximately 600 words), outlining your background, work experience, and desire to be a journalist
  4. Transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended
  5. Proof of Canadian citizenship (if applicable)
  6. Applicants whose primary language is not English, are required to submit official language test scores, unless exempted.

Graduate Diploma in Visual Journalism

If you have a visual eye, the Graduate Diploma in Visual Journalism will give you the skills required to tell impactful stories through still photography and video.

Under the guidance of our faculty, many of whom are working photojournalists, you will explore various forms of visual journalism including daily news photography, documentary and studio photography.

The 11-month intensive program is designed for students with an undergraduate degree at minimum. The program offers various internships and networking opportunities to connect with working journalists in the world of visual journalism.
