Student life
As a Journalism student in Montreal, you’ll become part of a vibrant, bilingual media environment and report on a diversity of events in sports, film, music, culture, environment and more.
You'll gain valuable work experience while studying through taking on an internship, working in a teaching assistant role or by contributing to student media.
Experiential, collaborative programs
Opportunities for paid internships in journalism and related fields are available to all students. Our students have interned at numerous media including The Montreal Gazette, Le Devoir, Sportsnet, CTV, CBC, Radio-Canada, City TV, Global, The Eastern Door and CJAD. Upper-year undergraduate students in good standing may take on a journalism practicum with recognized media outlet for course credit.
Awards and scholarships
We offer a variety of scholarships and donor awards to support our students. There are also numerous teaching and research assistantships that students can undertake throughout their studies.
Journalism Student Association
The Journalism Student Association (JSA) is a student-run association that organizes academic and social events among undergraduate journalism students. Their aim is to represent all journalism students and create a solid network in the Concordia journalism community.
Student media
The student-led, independent multimedia publications The Concordian and The Link regularly cover the Concordia community and beyond. For audio enthusiasts, CJLO is Concordia’s one and only radio station.
Facilities
Our computer labs and broadcast editing facilities are open to program students 24/7. Teaching assistants are available weekdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to help with audio and video projects in our state-of-the-art Newsroom Centre.
