Undergraduate program
Concordia is home to one of the best journalism programs in Canada. Our undergraduate program combines hands-on learning in small, collaborative class environments with theory-based education on the value of journalism and its impact in a complex world.
Major in Journalism (BA)
The future of reporting, now. Through our Major in Journalism, you’ll be equipped with the multimedia and critical thinking skills required to be a first-rate journalist in an evolving digital world. You’ll learn production skills in areas like podcasting, videography and writing while covering the same events as working journalists. You’ll benefit from small class sizes and have access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that replicate modern newsrooms. You’ll have the chance to practice these new skills through many internships.
You’ll graduate a skilled, bilingual journalist and be part of our growing roster of alumni who have found local and international success in the field.
Minor in Science Journalism
With today's digital landscape awash with misinformation, credible and accurate science reporting is critical. Through the Minor in Science Journalism, you will develop your science communication skills through various media. The minor combines hands-on writing and audiovisual production workshops with lectures and seminars that critically examine the social and political contexts in which journalism is produced.
We’ll equip you with the storytelling tools you need to communicate science accurately and engagingly, and you’ll become part of our growing Science Journalism Hub.
French requirement
To be eligible for graduation, students in the Major in Journalism must demonstrate a working knowledge of French. We define “working knowledge” as the ability to cover a press conference and conduct an interview entirely in French.
