Graduate student funding opportunities

The Faculty and its researchers offer awards, fellowships, research bursaries and other training opportunities to support graduate students pursuing their degrees. These funding opportunities play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of scholars and researchers, paving the way for advancing knowledge and innovation.

Faculty of Arts and Science Graduate Entrance Awards

Research-based programs within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences offer merit-based awards to incoming graduate students. These awards are aimed at attracting and supporting talented students who demonstrate academic excellence and potential to be the next generation of thinkers, creators, and leaders in their respective fields.

Research-based students are automatically considered for the following awards at the time of admission:

  • Faculty of Arts and Science Dean's Doctoral Award- allocated to exceptional PhD students (award value: up to $20,000).
  • Faculty of Arts and Science Doctoral Fellowship – Up to 4-years of funding (varying amounts). 
  • Faculty of Arts and Science Graduate Entrance Award: one-year non-renewable award allocated to in-coming MA/PhD students (varying amounts). 
  • Faculty of Arts and Science Master’s Award: Newly admitted research-based graduate students (varying amounts).

Outside of the Faculty of Arts and Science, graduate students can seek funding and awards from the School of Graduate Studies.
