Interdisciplinary programs
The Faculty of Arts and Science offers interdisciplinary programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Graduate students can enroll in interdisciplinary programs for the PhD or Masters of Arts or Science, graduate diplomas or certificates and microprograms.
Undergraduate students can enrol in interdisciplinary majors, minors, certificates and microprograms.

Graduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science might be interested in a variety of explicitly interdisciplinary programs.
PhD in Humanities
The PhD in Humanities is an interdisciplinary degree program designed for full-time study by highly qualified students located in the Center for International Studies in Society and Culture (CISSC). HUMA students engage in original research and research-creation across units within the Faculty of Arts and Science and the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Individualized Program (PhD, MA, MSc)
INDI is a unique program housed in the School of Graduate Studies that enables students to pursue individualized interdisciplinary scholarly programs. INDI graduate studies enable students to engage in research that could not be accomplished within a traditional program.
Master in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology
The MSc/MASc in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology introduces students to the science and capabilities of materials and devices on the nanometer scale spanning from the fundamental physical science of materials to biological and environmental implications, to technology development and device engineering. Students will work in interdisciplinary research teams and develop marketable skills in the emerging advanced materials sector working with scientists and engineers.
Graduate Diploma in Community Economic Development
Offered in both French and English, the Graduate Diploma in Community Economic Development is for students who want to contribute to social justice and civic engagement, at a time when complex, large-scale challenges are affecting societies around the world.
Undergraduate
An interdisciplinary major is a program consisting of 42 or more credits comprised of courses from a range of disciplines.
Interdisciplinary minor programs usually consist of 24 or more credits and are to be combined with a department major, specialization or honours.

Environmental Sustainability Science

Sustainability Studies
Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability
The minor in Sustainability Studies enables students to situate the knowledge they gain from other disciplines within the context of complex global and local issues, such as biodiversity loss or social injustice.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in internships and research opportunities on campus and in the outside community.
Israel Studies

The minor in Israel Studies is a 24-credit program intended for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science who wish to complement their core area of study with a selection of courses on Israel.
