Readmission

Students in poor academic standing may be refused readmission.

Academic standing

Academic standing is determined by your academic performance. It is measured by your grade point average (GPA).

There are three academic standings:

Acceptable

GPA is at least a 2.00: you may continue in your studies.

Conditional

GPA is between 1.50-1.99: Students must watch a video unless instructed to meet other conditions. Two consecutive conditional standings result in a first-level failure.

Failed

  • First time: GPA is below 1.50 or below a 2.00 after two consecutive conditional standing assessments.
  • Second time: GPA is below 2.00 after a first time failed standing.

Assessments

May Not Register without Special Permission

Students who are assessed as “Assessed: May Not Register without Special Permission” are withdrawn from their studies for one year.

Students in this circumstance, may apply for immediate readmission if there were extenuating circumstances that led to their poor academic standing (illness, death in the family, etc.) or apply for readmission after one year. Supporting documentation (doctor's note, death certificate, etc.) must be submitted with the application with an updated transcript. Students will be informed, in writing, of all necessary steps to apply for readmission.

To submit an application for readmission, please follow the steps for re-admission.

Your next step depends on whether you have spent time away from the university or not.

At least one year away

If you spent at least ONE YEAR away from the university:

  1. Download and fill out the Readmission application form. Please ensure that you have supporting documents that speak to the circumstances in your application for readmission.
  2. Upload your documents online. You can also upload your documents by going to your CU Account in the Student Hub.
  3. You will need to choose a document to upload. Please select “Arts and Science – Readmission Application.” Follow the instructions to upload the document.
  4. Please email sas.fas@concordia.ca after you have uploaded your application for readmission and all supporting documents.

There is no need to submit a paper copy of your application. We will notify you when we have made a decision, over the summer months.

The deadline to submit the application for readmission is normally the first Monday in August of every year.

Assessed: May Not Re-register

Students who are “Assessed: May Not Re-register” are removed from their studies for two years.

Students in this situation can book an appointment with an SAS Advisor after that time period has passed. The advisor will determine the student's eligibility for readmission and provide the readmission application.

Should you be deemed eligible, the deadline to apply for readmission is the first Monday in August.
