Gothenburg Summer School for Sustainability
The University of Gothenburg Summer School for Sustainability is a chance to take action! Deepen your understanding of global challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals by joining an international cohort of like-minded people for five inspirational summer weeks in the beautiful city of Gothenburg!
About the program
The Gothenburg Summer School for Sustainability offers a programme of courses and activities to create synergy around sustainable solutions and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. All courses offered will focus on the issues relating to the Sustainable Development Goals and will provide a challenging and rewarding academic atmosphere for you to develop knowledge around contemporary sustainability challenges within your own academic discipline as well as skills necessary to contribute towards fulfilling Agenda 2030.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to participate in the Gothenburg Summer School for Sustainability, you must meet the following criteria.
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
- Have a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA (CGPA).
- Completed at a minimum of 24 credits toward your current degree program by the time you leave for the program.

Program courses
All courses offered will focus on the issues relating to the Sustainable Development Goals and will provide a challenging and rewarding academic atmosphere for you to develop knowledge around contemporary sustainability challenges within your own academic discipline as well as skills necessary to contribute towards fulfilling Agenda 2030. All courses will be taught in English. Students from the Faculty of Arts and Science and the Faculty of Fine Arts must complete and submit a Student Request form to their faculty. John Molson School of Business students must meet the eligibility requirements for Short-term study abroad programs outlined within the John Molson Visiting & Exchange website.

Concordia student may choose one of the 7.5 ECTS courses below.
- The Digitalisation of a Changing World (IT Faculty)
- Biodiversity in Western Sweden (Faculty of Science)
- Managing Migration (Faculty of Social Sciences)
- Teaching Sustainable Development from a Global perspective (Faculty of Education)
- Imagining Justice for a sustainable world: perspectives from fictiuon, philosophy and religion(Faculty of Humanities)
Social and extra-curricular activities: Outside of the classroom you will be offered an interesting programme, including interdisciplinary seminars, practical workshops, opportunities to get to know your co-students, tours of the city as well as a welcome and farewell ceremony.
Estimated Cost & bursary
Host fees: Concordia students participating in this program will not be charged any tuition by the University of Gothenburg.
Concordia Tuition: 3 credits of Concordia tuition to be paid to Concordia University. For an estimate of tuition fees, please use the tuition fee calculator.
Additional costs: Participants are responsible for paying their own airfare, meals, accommodations, health insurance, travel documents and all other costs associated with this program.
Quebec Mobility Bursary: Concordia International offers a $1500 CDN to students who qualify. For more information on the bursary, visit the Concordia International funding webpage.
Accommodations
Accommodation is guaranteed in one of our centrally located student housing complexes. Prices range between CAD 500-525 CAD.
