Program overview
Concordia’s 30-credit Graduate Diploma in Teacher Certification: Preschool and Elementary equips uncertified experienced teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in Quebec’s classrooms. Over two years, this program prepares you to become a certified teacher while building on your existing expertise. This program offers personalized learning pathways and adopts a Competency-based Education Model, equipping teachers to address specific challenges encountered in the classroom. It fosters a dynamic learning experience by applying action research to real classroom issues, providing opportunities for growth and development. Additionally, the program recognizes the value of candidates' work environments and contributes to the ongoing professionalization of their practice.

Admission requirements
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree. Applicants must have completed a high-standing bachelor's/baccalaureate (or equivalent). High standing is defined as honours, specialization, or a GPA equivalent to a B average.
- Teaching Experience. Applicants are expected to have a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience or equivalent. Applicants will be prioritized according to both their total number of hours accumulated and length of the contracts.
- Recommendation letter from a school Principal, School Board, or Centre des Services Scolaires in Quebec.
- Letter of Tolerance issued from a School Board or Centre des Services Scolaires in Quebec.
- A teaching contract valid during the duration of the program.
- Proficiency in English. Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate that their knowledge of English is sufficient to pursue graduate studies in their chosen field. Please refer to the English language proficiency page for further information on requirements and exemptions.
