Research Assistant Position: Text Coding and Immigration

Location: Concordia University, Montreal, Canada
Duration: 50h to 150h contracts
Salary: This is a CARE position - Salary rates will be determined based on level of study. Undergraduate hourly rates start at $17.26; MA hourly rates start at $22.14

Description and context

Dr. Mireille Paquet, from the Department of Political Science and the Institute for Research on Migration and Society, is seeking motivated research assistants for a project focused on media coverage of immigration in Quebec. 

Open to Concordia University 3rd- and 4th-year undergraduate students and MA students.  

Roles and responsibilities

  • Code media articles from French-language newspapers using a pre-designed codebook.
  • Participate in group meetings.
  • Assist the research team with related tasks as needed.

Job requirements

  • Proficiency in French (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.4.
  • Open to Concordia University 3rd- and 4th-year undergraduate students and MA students.  

Will be considered an asset:

  • Experience with text coding or data entry.
  • Interest in text-as-data methods
