Jacob Baby is an urban planner and researcher. He completed his post graduate education in Urban Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Before pursuing his doctoral program, Jacob was teaching & doing research on Indian cities. His research interests include urban development in India, transit-oriented development, non-motorized transportation in cities, and public policy.
His doctoral research looks at history and evolution of transport planning and policy in Indian cities and through this historical lens investigates the roots of automobility in Indian cities.
Jacob is working under the supervision of Professors Govind Gopakumar at the Center for Engineering in Society and Craig Townsend in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment.
The working title of Jacob's thesis is Histories of transport planning & policy in Indian Cities.
