Honorary degree citation - David Azrieli*
By: John W. Locke, November 1975
Mr. Vice-Chancellor, I have the honour to present to you Mr. David Azrieli, exemplary contributor to the University. Mr. Azrieli's generosity has significantly improved the educational opportunity for many students in this University: he has made it possible for students to receive a superior education in filrnmaking and in the near future students will begin to see films for research which were not previously available in North America.
He also established the first endowed fellowships for Concordia graduate students. Graduate students deserve this kind of support, and Mr. Azrieli's initiative is greatly appreciated. I hope that his pioneering effort will be followed by others. He has truly been of assistance and been responsible for raisiry the quality of education for many students.
His relation to the University is an example which others in the world of business should emulate. The University has acknowledged its difficult position regarding finances, and Mr. Azrieli represents the kind of co-operation between business and the University which is needed at this time.
Mr. Vice-Chancellor, I am honoured to present to you on behalf of the University Senate, and by the authority of the Board of Governors, Mr. David Azrieli, that you may confer on him the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.
