Honorary degree citation - Luigi Liberatore
By: Dr. Linda M. Dyer, November 2018
Mr. Chancellor, it is my honour to present to you Mr. Luigi Liberatore, business entrepreneur, venture capital investor and prolific philanthropist.
Mr. Liberatore has an innate curiosity, a passion for personal interactions, and a drive to help people realize their potential and feel valued for their contributions. These qualities have helped him extend his interests well beyond the family construction business, Foschi and Liberatore, that he took over from his father.
He maintains that the best way to feel fulfilled in life is to strike a balance between one’s business life, family life and community, and he has certainly done that. He mirrors the Concordia ethos in his belief that business success must be matched by a desire to help improve society. He has given generously of his funds and expertise to major Montreal and national institutions in the areas of health, education and culture. He has also been honoured for his active role in the Italian Canadian business and cultural communities.
Mr. Chancellor, on behalf of Senate and the Board of Governors, it is my privilege and honour to present to you Mr. Luigi Liberatore, so that you may confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.
