Honorary degree citation - Louis Tanguay
By: Dr. Linda M. Dyer, November 2018
Mr. Chancellor, it is my honour to present to you Mr. Louis Tanguay, business executive and prolific volunteer.
Like his alma mater, Mr. Tanguay believes strongly in service to society and succession planning. He has been generous with his time and expertise by assuming major volunteer roles with the Montreal Heart Institute, la Fondation de l’Hôpital Sacré-Coeur, Les Jeux du Quebec, Montreal’s 375th Anniversary celebrations, Concordia and more. He has also served on the boards of directors of more than 30 organizations.
He feels that any organization’s culture must encourage executives to recognize the hard work, sacrifices and talent of the employees who will become the next generation of managers. A natural leader, he says, creates her own opportunities, knows how to take calculated risks, admits her failures, and always gives colleagues credit for their ideas and effort. All very good advice!
Mr. Chancellor, on behalf of Senate and the Board of Governors, it is my privilege and honour to present to you Mr. Louis Tanguay, so that you may confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.
