Why you'll need a student ID card
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) uses your student ID card photo to create your OPUS card transit pass.
Before requesting a card online be sure you meet these criteria:
- Be a full-time student at Concordia for the current academic year.
- Have a valid Concordia ID card for at least 24 hours prior to making your request.
- Have a valid mailing address in the province of Quebec.
For new students:
- First ensure you have uploaded your photo to the portal.
- Next, wait to receive the pick-up confirmation email before making your request.
- Remember you can make your OPUS card request even if you haven’t picked up your ID card in person.
Note: The cost to issue a card is $15. Payment is by credit card only.
To order your OPUS card online
- Log into the Student Hub and click on My CU Account using your netname and password.
- Click on Personal and select OPUS Card.
Follow the instructions to process your online payment.
You will receive your OPUS card by mail directly from the STM.
The STM uses the Concordia ID card photo to produce the OPUS card. Make sure your ID card is created before submitting an OPUS request.
- You will need to book an appointment before going to the STM photo studio.
- You must download your proof of status on-site. Pre-loaded versions will not be accepted.
- Bring a photo ID that includes your birthday, such as a health insurance card, driver's license, passport, asylum seeker document or permanent resident card. Student cards are not eligible forms of ID.
- Your appointment code.
Complete the STM reduced-fare/student photo OPUS card form
You do not have to have your form signed and stamped by Concordia. You only need to fill out the sections “To be filled out by applicant” and “Mandatory signature” and bring it with you to your appointment.

The STM will ask you to generate your letter of attestation for additional verifications. To do that:
- Log into your My CU Account.
- Select “My Student Centre”
- Click on the three small horizontal lines at the end of the Academics section to access the drop-down menu, then select “Attestation letters.”
- Select the Academic Career that applies to your studies at Concordia.
- Select the language.

Note: The cost to issue a card is $15. Cash and debit card are accepted for payment. Credit cards are not accepted. The STM photo studio is located at 1755 Berri Street. Visit stm.info for details. If you run into any problems, please contact Birks Student Service Centre
To renew your OPUS card
If you already have a reduced-fare student OPUS card, it will expire on the date indicated on the card. You can renew your card between August 1 and October 31, so you do not lose a month of your student status.
Reorder an OPUS card online and receive it by mail. The same $15 fee applies. After October 31, you can still get your new card, but you will not be eligible for the reduced fare until you submit a new application.
Note: You do not need to provide a new student ID photo for the OPUS renewal. The STM still has your photo on file.
