Art History notes
Students are required to take ARTH 201 and ARTH 202 in their first year of study, and ARTH 300 in their second year. All other are history courses can be taken in any order. Students are encouraged to take a variety of 200 and 300 level art history courses, those which interest them and allow them to discover the breadth of the discipline. Students should take 400 level art history courses only in their last year of study.
Studio electives
A studio elective is defined as any course chosen from among the following disciplines:
- ARTX
- CERA (ceramics)
- DRAW (drawing)
- FBRS (fibres and materials practice)
- IMCA (intermedia - video, performance, electronics)
- PHOT (photography)*
- PTNG (painting)
- PRIN (print media)
- SCUL (sculpture)
*Note: PHOT 210 is the only photography course available to students enrolled in a program offered by the Department of Studio Arts other than the Photography program. All other PHOT courses are reserved for Major in Photography students only.
